Gardai investigating the death of a young boy in north Cork have made an arrest.
/> Anthony Ward was found dead in the bedroom of his Charleville home yesterday.
A post mortem revealed that the 8-year-old died from asphyxia.
The arrested woman is aged in her 40s.
She has been brought to Mallow Garda Station where she is currently being questioned under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
That means she can be held for up to 24 hours not including any time allowed for rest.
The post mortem on showed Anthony died of asphyxia but Gardai say the results of toxicology tests will not be known for a number of weeks.
