Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to an alleged assault on a forest trail in Co Cork yesterday evening. 

A woman was assaulted by a man while walking on the Island Wood forest trails, Newmarket, at roughly 7.10pm. 

The woman did not require medical attention following the incident. 

Gardaí in Mallow are appealing for witnesses to this incident to come forward. 

Road users who were travelling near the vicinity of Island Wood on the outskirts of Newmarket, and surrounding areas yesterday evening between 4.00pm and 10.00pm with dash-cam footage have been asked to make it available to Gardaí. 

Any person who was walking, cycling, running or visiting the Island Wood walking trails yesterday evening and who may have noticed any unusual activity, is also asked to contact investigating Gardaí.
