A woman has appeared in court charged with the murder of her six-year-old son.

Matthew Healy was found dead in a car near Dunmore East in Waterford on Friday, February 9th.

Ruth Purcell Heally, 37, of Bishop's Field, Williamstown Road, Waterford, was charged with his death and brought before a special sitting of Waterford District Court this evening.

The funeral of Matthew Healy is taking place tomorrow.

Gardaí say investigations are ongoing.
