Two separate investigations are underway into a fatal collision involving a Luas in Dublin city centre this morning.
A woman in her 30s died after being hit by a car that was reportedly in a collision with a Luas tram at the junction of Jervis Street and Abbey Street just before 9am.
A garda forensic team has spent most of the day investigating the crash site. Gardai are also examining CCTV footage to see what caused it.
Transdev - which operates the Luas network - is also carrying out its own inquiry into what happened as is procedure in any collision involving a tram.
Luas Red Line services were disrupted earlier, but have returned to normal.
The pedestrian sustained fatal injuries after being struck by a BMW car between Jervis Street and Abbey Street.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
The office of the State Pathologist was called and a preliminary exam was carried out before the woman's body was removed from the scene.
This eyewitness was on her way to a nearby gym when the accident happened.
