An elderly woman has died following a fire at a house in county Cavan.

Fire services were called to the scene at Tunnyduff in Bailieborough shortly after 7 o'clock this evening

Her body has been removed to the morgue at Cavan General Hospital.

A post mortem examination is due to take place tomorrow.

The area has been sealed off while gardai examine the scene.
