A woman has died in a road traffic collision in County Cork this morning.

The incident happened at approximately nine am when the two cars collided at Coppeen East, Enniskeane, County Cork.

The female driver (early 40s) of the first car was pronounced dead at scene and her body was removed to the morgue in Cork University Hospital. The male driver (late 50s) of the second car was taken to Bantry Hospital for minor injuries.

The road was closed to facilitate a forensic collision examination and has now reopened.
