A woman has died following a car crash in Co. Waterford. It happened at approximately 11.40pm last night.
The 45-year-old was seriously injured after her car collided with a van on a stretch of the Waterford to Dungarvan road at Ballyduff West.
She was rushed to hospital along with the male driver of the van but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The van driver was treated at the scene.
The driver of the car was also taken to hospital and was treated for minor injuries.
The road is closed to facilitate a technical examination of the scene and Gardai are appealing for witnesses.
A man aged in his 40s was arrested and is being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act at Waterford Garda Station.
