Bernadette Scully has been charged with the murder of her daughter Emily Barut (11) in Tullamore in September 2012.

Dr Scully (56), with an address at Emvale, Bachelor's Walk in Tullamore, appeared at Tullamore District Court this morning.

The body of Emily Barut was found at her family home in Tullamore on September 15th 2012.

She had cerebal palsy and was in a wheelchair. Her mother was found unconscious in the house.

Judge Catherine Staines remanded Dr Scully in custody to the Dochas Centre to appear in Tullamore District Court again on Wednesday.

Deputy editor with the Tullamore Tribune, Gearoid Keegan, told Newstalk Lunchtime Dr Scully did not speak during her court appearance.
