A woman who went missing in Australian bushland during heavy rain and flooding has been found alive after five days.
26-year-old Chinese student Yang Chen went missing in the Gold Coast area on the morning of Wednesday 12th February.
She was separated from her walking partner, with her disappearance sparking a widespread search.
Poor weather conditions had made the search effort challenging for the teams involved.
However, Ms Chen was located safely on Monday near the Gorge Falls waterfall in Tallebudgera - around 300 metres from where she had last been seen.
Australian media reports she had slept in caves and drank fresh water from creeks during the five days she was missing.
Acting Senior Sergeant Mitch Gray said it was the most difficult land search he has been involved with - also saying that search teams had risked their lives to save Ms Chen.
He told ABC News: "Today and tomorrow were sort of looking towards the end of the search time and I had that unfortunate feeling in my stomach that we weren't going to find her alive.
"There was no trail there... what they did to get her out of there was no short of amazing.
"We used local experts who lived there their whole lives... they were invaluable."
Ms Chen was said to have been found in "surprisingly good spirits" but was taken to hospital for treatment for exposure.
