A woman in her 30s has been shot dead in Finglas, Gardaí have said.
The incident took place at around 8.40 last night and she was taken to the Mater Hospital where she passed away from her injuries.
The scene has been sealed off for a technical examination by Gardaí and the state pathologist will carry out a post-mortem.
No arrests have been made.
“It’s quite shocking and it’s not the first incident where a woman has been killed in such a violent way,” local councillor Caroline Conroy told Newstalk.
“I’m really so sorry for the family who have to deal with this tragic incident and I don’t know all the details as of yet but I send my deepest sympathies to the family.”

She appealed for anyone with any information to contact An Garda Síochána:
“I think it’s very vital that they come forward.
“Any information whatsoever, even the smallest piece of information they don’t think is relevant, it would be good if they contact the guards as soon as possible because it can help in the most vital way possible.”
