A woman has been brought to hospital after she was seriously injured in a dog attack in Dublin.
Gardaí are investigating the attack by two dogs at a home in Dún Laoghaire yesterday afternoon.
The woman is being treated in St Vincent's Hospital.
The Journal.ie journalist Diarmuid Pepper told Newstalk Breakfast it happened just after midday.
"It happened at an apartment on the Glenageary Road in Dún Laoghaire at around midday," he said.
"The woman who was attacked was a woman in her 50s.
"She was taken to St Vincent's Hospital and she is understood to be in a serious but a stable condition."
Mr Pepper said a neighbour did try to intervene in the situation.
"According to one local [source] a neighbour heard the screams coming from her apartment and went to help but unfortunately to no avail," he said.
"This local also said the whole incident happened very, very quickly.
"As regards the dogs themselves it's not clear if the dogs involved are on the restricted breeds list."
Mr Pepper said paramedics reportedly were unable to help the woman on arrival due to the presence of the dogs.
"The incident happened at around midday and it was about an hour, reports are saying, before the woman was able to be taken to hospital via ambulance," he said.
"There seems to have been a difficulty in assisting the woman".
A local Dog Warden has taken control of the dogs.
