Gardai in Leitrim are investigating a fatal road collision which has claimed the life of woman in her 60s.
The pedestrian was seriously injured when she was struck by a car shortly after 5pm on the R201 on the outskirts of Mohill Village.
She was taken by ambulance to Sligo General Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The driver of the car was uninjured.
The road remained closed to traffic overnight and local diversions are in place.
Remembrance Day for crash victims
Events to mark World Remembrance Day for road traffic victims will get underway across the country today.
23,405 people have died on Irish roads since records first began in 1959. While, a further 76,129 received serious or life changing injuries between 1977 to 2012.
The Road Safety Authority and members of the Gardaí along with emergency services have joined forces to urge people to consider their driving behaviour as a mark of respect to those who have lost their lives on Ireland's roads.
