A woman has died following a shooting incident in Dublin.

Gardai were called to the scene at a house in Killinarden Estate in Tallaght shortly after 4 o'clock today where they discovered a middle aged woman with fatal injuries.

Another woman, believed to be in her 20s, is being treated for gunshot injuries at Tallaght Hospital.

Her injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

A man in his 50's was arrested at the scene and a shotgun has been recovered. He is being treated for non life threatening injuries at St James' Hospital.

The scene has been preserved and gardai are carrying out a technical examination.

The office of the State Pathologist has also been notified.

A man- who was found with injuries nearby was arrested and has been taken to St James Hospital.

A garda investigation is underway.
