A woman in her 70s has died in a road collision in Co Louth.

She was a passenger in one of two cars involved in a collision at Clonmore, Togher shortly before 11.30pm.

The driver, a woman in her early sixties, was driving the car the deceased was travelling in was seriously injured.

A man and a woman in their late 20s who were in the other vehicle were also injured however it's understood their injuries are non-life threatening.

The road remains closed this morning so the scene can be technically examined by Garda forensic collision investigators.
