A woman in her 40s is seriously injured after she was hit by a car in Co Donegal yesterday evening.

The incident happened at a 7.15pm on the Coneyburrow Road, in Lifford.

She was taken to Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry where her condition is described as serious. 

The road is currently closed - while Gardaí carry out a forensic examination of the scene. 

Gardaí in Lifford are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
