A woman from London got married to herself after she got fed up with being single.
Grace Gedler proposed to herself on Parliament Hill, north London, in November last year and had even posted a "selfie-proposal".
In March, Ms Gedler had a wedding ceremony with 50 guests, completed with a kiss on a mirror as her friends and sister watched on, according to The Guardian.
The visual performance artist and filmmaker said that she was inspired by Bjork's song Isobel and she decided to tie the knot after being single for six years and building up a good relationship... with herself.
But what did people make of her decision to embrace self-love? “A few did comment, in a light-hearted way, that it was a bit narcissistic,” Ms Gedler admitted.
“Obviously, if you have just announced you’re marrying yourself, it is plainly a statement of self-love, and I was under no illusion how self-indulgent that might appear.”
“But I was completely comfortable with my motivations. I’d been on a journey of personal development using meditation, dance and performance to increase my self-awareness,” she said.
“Included in this was a Shakti Tantra programme focused on sexuality and how this was bound up with making agreements with yourself and other people.”
Ms Gedler even admitted to having pre-wedding jitters but took the plunge anyway.
