A woman who vanished while hiking in Hawaii two weeks ago has been found alive.

Yoga instructor Amanda Eller (35) disappeared in the Makawao Forest Reserve in Maui on May 8th, prompting a frantic search effort to find her.

In a post on a Facebook page called 'Find Amanda', rescuers confirmed she had been spotted by a search helicopter in a creek bed between two waterfalls.

She was airlifted to safety and, incredibly, had avoided any serious injuries.

"She got lost and was stuck and slightly injured in the forest - way way out," the post said.

Ms Eller had been living on water and plants while she was missing, her friend Sarah Haynes told ABC News.

Ms Eller's father John said he had "been balling like a baby" as he spoke to reporters outside Maui Memorial Hospital where his daughter was being treated.

He said Ms Eller was found in a deep ravine that she was unable to get out from, while rescuers also had to be airlifted to safety.

She did not have any broken bones and was "mentally 100%" but had suffered skin damage, partly due to sun exposure, Mr Eller said.

"She did it - she figured it out. She was smart, she was strong, she was prepared," he told reporters.

"We said that at the beginning and it was absolutely true.

"It comes from mental strength, physical strength and spiritual strength."

Mr Eller said his daughter - who lives in Haiku, Hawaii - had fallen and "did something to her ankle and knees that inhibited her".

"She was very far away. She was trying to find her way back but got lost in the terrain," he said.

Volunteers searching for Ms Eller used GPS devices to try and locate her after her vehicle was found following her disappearance.

Her boyfriend, Benjamin Konkol, previously told ABC News that he believed she was still in the forest and did not suspect foul play.

"She's my soulmate, she's the love of my life and I feel that she's still out there... I'd really like to stop spending my evenings alone and have my love back," he said at the time.
