A woman has been seriously injured in a hit-and-run in Derrymullen, County Kildare.

Gardaí and emergency services arrived on the scene of a hit-and-run incident at approximately 11.15am on the R415 in Derrymullen, Allenwood, Kildare.

A 40-year-old female pedestrian was hit by a car, which failed to remain at the scene.

The woman was brought to hospital with serious non-life threatening injuries.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Investigations are ongoing.
