While we're sure a lot of selfies were shared after the Notting Hill Carnival in the UK on Sunday, this will definitely be the one to stick in everyone's memory.
Mary Brandon posted a shocking selfie of her bruised and battered face after she was punched by a man that continued to sexually harass her.
Brandon posted the picture to her Facebook page where she explained she was attending the one-day festival with her friends and standing in line when a man in the crowd "grabbed [her] arse".
"When I told him not to he did it again. I pushed him away, exercising my right to tell a man to stop touching my body without my permission, so he took a swing at me and punched me in the face," she wrote.
(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = "//connect.facebook.net/en_GB/all.js#xfbml=1"; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs); }(document, 'script', 'facebook-jssdk'));
Brandon spent nearly ten hours in A&E getting treatment for her face after the brutal attack. However, despite her injuries, the young woman has sworn to stay defiant and stand up for women against sexual harassment.
"The saddest thing about this for me was discussing with my friends afterwards whether in future it’s best not to do anything at all. Maybe it’d be safer to just ignore it when someone invades your space and body. But I can honestly say I will always stand up to someone who thinks they can get away with this behaviour and I’d take a punch again from this loser or any other loser who thinks it’s OK to treat women like this," she wrote.
According to the Evening Standard, the Metropolitan police have confirmed that an investigation of the incident is underway.
