A woman is being treated in hospital for injuries which are described as critical following a serious collision in Dublin yesterday evening.

The incident, involving a car - a silver opel astra - and a cyclist happened on the Malahide Road, at the junction with Greencastle Road, shortly before 7 o'clock.

The 45 year-old woman was taken to Beaumont Hospital while, the driver of the car - a man in his early 60's - was uninjured.

Gardai are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision to contact Coolock Garda Station.
