A Polish woman wanted for prosecution in Germany under drug trafficking laws has been arrested in Co. Wicklow.
34-year-old Natalia Kowal appeared before the High Court this afternoon.
The court heard Kowal is living in Arklow where she was picked up this morning by Gardaí acting on a European Arrest Warrant.
She is wanted in Germany to face a charge of importing at least a kilo of cocaine on an intercontinental flight from Caribbean island Curacao to Amsterdam in November 2001.
It is alleged that this followed an arrangement with 2 other individuals in a McDonald’s restaurant in a small town west of Hamburg.
Judge Daniel Herbert remanded her in custody with consent to bail.
