A British woman wanted for allegedly throwing petrol bombs at police in the London riots has appeared at the High Court in Dublin. Jacqueline Stanton is facing extradition to the UK after she was detained in Co. Kildare this morning on a European Arrest Warrant.
She is accused of burglary and violent disorder in Hackney on the 8th or 9th August, 2011.
Detective Sargeant Sean Fallon gave evidence to the court that he arrested her at an apartment in Monasterevin at 8.20am this morning. He said she was charged and cautioned and replied 'I’m sick of being on the run, I threw it but didn’t hit anyone'.
The 33-year-old wore dark trousers, a black vest top and a black jacket in court. Her lawyers will apply for bail next Tuesday. They will also be seeking legal aid.
In the meantime she has been remanded to the Dochas Centre at Mountjoy Prison.
On the request of her legal team, Mr. Justice John Edwards recommended that she receives appropriate medical attention while in custody.
