A High Court judge has said a Nigerian woman who is wanted in France in connection with people trafficking is accused of offences that are the scourge of Europe.

Mother-of-3 Trust Egharevba was detained at Castlecurragh Park in Dublin last week on a European Arrest Warrant and today has been released on bail on her own bond of €25,000.

The French authorities believe young Nigerian women were being trafficked into France via Italy for prostitution by a criminal gang.

The 36-year-old is wanted in France as part of the investigation into trafficking and international money laundering.

The court heard she has around 5 Irish bank accounts.

Gardaí were concerned if granted bail she would be a flight risk because bank statements seen last Wednesday show there were funds of up to €30,000 in 3 of these accounts.

Ms. Justice Maureen Clark has frozen 2 of the accounts on the basis €25,000 will be forfeited by Trust Egharevba if she breaches her bail conditions.

The judge said she is accused of very serious offences which she described as the scourge of Europe.
