The body of a woman has been pulled from the River Liffey this morning.

The alarm was raised at around 8:20am when the remains were spotted in the water at Dublin Port, Terminal 1.

Four units of Dublin Fire Brigade attended the scene, along with a sea rescue boat which recovered the body at around 9am.

Gardaí are investigating the incident but it is believed the death is being treated as a tragedy.
