Newly elected TDs will get a reminder today about their election promises to set up a public system for childcare and early childhood education.
National Womens' Council director, Orla O'Connor, has said the current childcare system is at breaking point, and simply isn't working - for women, for children, or for society.
“We’re coming together today outside Leinster House to remind the newly elected TD’s of the commitments that they’ve made during the election campaign for prioritising childcare, and prioritising that move to a public system of early childhood care and education,” she said.
Over 40 groups, including unions and educators, have formed an alliance called 'Together for Public' - which is staging a rally outside Leinster House this morning - are calling for action by the new Dail.
