The world's largest collector of Barbie dolls has given her seal of approval to the new Barbie film.
Bettina Dorfmann (62), who is from Germany, has been collecting the iconic character for 30 years.
She has held the record for the largest collection since 2005, amassing an impressive array of some 18,000 different dolls.
Ms Dorfmann has between 5,000 and 8,000 dolls in her house, with some in her stockroom and others on display in museums.
Barbie was first launched by toy company Mattel in 1959, and quickly became a worldwide phenomenon.
New interest has been generated as Greta Gerwig's new Barbie film hit Irish cinemas on Friday.
Ms Dorfmann told Moncrieff it is interesting to see the characters on-screen.
"I have seen the film on preview, and I liked the film very much," she said.
"I will go again [to see] the film again on Sunday, it was very nice.
"I liked the dolls and the story is very, very interesting".
Ms Dorfmann said her collection reminds her of growing up.
"I'm collecting Barbie dolls because I have played in my childhood with these dolls," she said.
"It is a reminder for me of my childhood, and then I started the collecting.
"I wanted to give the dolls to my daughter from my childhood - I was born in '61 and my daughter was born in '91.
"She doesn't want my old-fashioned dolls, and I bought her the new ones - and then I started collecting.
"She got the new ones, but she doesn't like my old dolls," she laughed.
Ms Dorfmann said she normally keeps the dolls in boxes.
"I make a lot of exhibitions here in Europe, my dolls went through the museums, and sometimes I must put them out of the box," she said.
"If I buy a new one and I take it out of the box, I will go and buy [one] that is never removed from its box".
Ms Dorfmann said the price is just one thing to factor in.
"The old dolls are most expensive than the newer ones, but it very important how the condition of the doll [is]," she said.
"Has the doll ever been removed from the box, or if she is removed from the box you must have a look if she has mistakes [sic].
"It is very important how many dolls were produced, and the year is important.
"You can buy play goods and you can buy collector dolls".
Ms Dorfmann said she is collecting across the entire Barbie spectrum.
"If you start collecting you must learn a lot [about] the dolls," she said.
"I'm collecting the whole Barbie family; Barbie, her sister, friends and Ken is a part of the Barbie family".
Ms Dorfmann said people can even book an appointment to see her 'Barbie room'.
"My most valuable Barbie is the number one, because she was produced in '59," she said.
"They did not produce so much of this doll because it was at first an idea.
"The dolls in the '60s got more cheaper then, because you got more [produced].
"The number one or number two, if you want to buy this doll with a box in good condition, she will cost €10,000," she added.
