2.3 million fewer people tuned in to see the final 12 being revealed on last night’s X Factor, compared to the same show last year.

However, the programme pulled an average audience of 9.8 million, which is the highest figure of the series so far.

The first live shows of the series get going next weekend with X Factor hoping for a boost to flagging ratings.
