Met Éireann has issued a Yellow rain warning for six counties in the west of Ireland ahead of Bank Holiday Monday.
The warning is in place for Clare, Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, and Sligo from 1pm tomorrow to 1pm on Monday.
Met Éireann has warned people to expect localised flooding, damage to temporary structures and poor visibility travelling.
Meteorologist Alan O’Reilly said there will be some “sunny spells” today and remain dry in many areas – but other areas can expect a lot of rain.
“[There will be] showers in the west and the northern half of the country this afternoon,” he said.
Tomorrow, meanwhile, is going to start off wet and remain that way until Monday.
Latest weather model charts show over 50mm in 24 hours for parts of Galway and Mayo between 7pm tomorrow and 7am Monday. Risk of local flooding there but Southeast less than 5mm in same period. However that rain will move Southeast later on Monday. Make the most of today! pic.twitter.com/TrIrOPI25e

“Draw a line from Galway to Dublin and above that will be quite wet," Mr O'Reilly said.
“But below that it will be dull – it will be damp but it won’t be too wet.
“It will be very windy on Sunday and that heavy rain will continue in the west throughout Sunday.”
Yellow rain warning
Mr O’Reilly predicted there could be over 50mm in parts of Galway and Mayo this weekend, so floods are expected.
While it’s going to dampen the Bank Holiday, the rain will clear throughout Monday.
“The timing on Monday is still a little uncertain – still very windy on Monday as well,” Mr O’Reilly said.
“The rain will clear Monday [by] evening improving for the rest of the week.”
Temperatures will range from 13 to 19 degrees, with the warmest weather in the east of Ireland.
