Once upon a time, playing some of the best early video games was a technically demanding and power intensive task. It's less than thirty years since floppy discs, MS-DOS and other now quaint technologies were commonplace (and often cutting edge).
There has been no better no better indication of how far gaming technology has advanced than Archive.org's project to make hundreds of classic DOS games playable in a browser. And that has recently gone a step further - the games can now be played from within a tweet.
With classics including Prince of Persia, Donkey Kong, Sim City and Wolfenstein 3D available, the collection was already a treasure trove of gaming history. Next time you see Pac-Man pop up in your Twitter feed, you don't even need to open a new browser window. Makes you wonder how we'll be able to play today's cutting edge titles in the decades to come...
You can play classic DOS games in tweets now. Impressive! https://t.co/W0FbZteFhM via @internetarchive
