Five people have died during a weekend of horror on Irish roads.
The most recently fatality was a young man in his 20s who died in a crash in Navan, County Meath.
It happened shortly before 10pm yesterday evening on the R161 Trim to Navan Road at Philpotstown near Navan.
The driver of the car was taken by ambulance to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, where he was later pronounced dead.
The man in his 20s was the only person in the car and there were no other vehicles involved in the crash.
The scene of the crash has been preserved for a forensic inspection and local traffic diversions remain in place this morning.
Gardaí are urging any witnesses to the crash to come forward.
They are particularly keen to talk to anyone was travelling on the R161 road between Navan and Trim between 9:30pm and 10pm yesterday and may have dash cam footage.
Earlier on Sunday, two men died in a motorcycle crash on the R195 road at Bellaney, County Meath.
A 14-year-old boy also passed away after an e-scooter crash in Kilkenny on Saturday.
Meanwhile in Cork, a man died in the early hours of Saturday after the car he was travelling in crashed near Kinsale.
