A man has been arrested after a young man was seriously injured in a hit-and-run in Dublin yesterday.

It happened on the Cloverhill Road in Clondalkin yesterday afternoon.

Gardaí said the man in his 20s was hit by the van at around 1.45pm.

He was taken to hospital with serious injuries and the van failed to remain at the scene.

This morning, Gardaí confirmed that a man in his 20s had been arrested.

He is being questioned at a Garda station in south Dublin.

A technical examination of the scene was carried out yesterday and the road has since reopened to traffic.

Gardaí are now appealing for witnesses to come forward.

They are particularly interested in talking to anyone who was travelling in the area at the time and may have video footage.
