Gardaí are investigating an alleged assault on convicted double murderer Yousef Palani at Mountjoy Prison.

The 23-year-old is serving two life sentences for the horrific murders of 43-year-old Aidan Moffitt and 58-year-old Michael Snee in County Sligo in April 2022.

He has been detained in isolation since his conviction last October; however, he was reportedly permitted to mix with other prisoners in recent weeks.

He has since claimed he was assaulted in his cell on the afternoon of Monday March 11^th.

He has made a complaint to Gardaí and an investigation is now underway.

A Garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí received report of an alleged assault of an inmate at Mountjoy Prison on Monday afternoon, 11th March 2024.”
