Taoiseach Enda Kenny will launch a new centre for research in the area of sports medicine.
It is hoped that the €15 million Sports Surgery Clinic Research Foundation will make Ireland a major player in the field of international research in areas like concussion, injury recovery and athlete training.
To date the Clinic, which is based in Santry, has cared for over 150,000 patients in the last seven years and has found success in a number of areas, in particular ACL injuries where recovery times have been significantly reduced.
High tech facilities and equipment, including 3D Biomechanical testing, will benefit both professional and amateur athletes.
