Newstalk's Shona Murray told Newstalk Breakfast's Chris Donoghue this morning about Uma Abdel, a 32-year-old Syrian nurse who was accused of aiding and abetting the enemy and sent to prison without trial. 

Shona interviewed the mother of two who had been treating injured people in the Syrian cities of Homs and Damascus when she was picked up by the regime on terrorism charges and spent six months in a harsh prison.

Uma was eventually released under what's known as a prisoner swap, where two or three prisoners are released in place of another person considered guilty of a more serious crime.
