It's hoped travel disruption for Aer Lingus passengers in the run up to Christmas can be avoided.
Yesterday, cabin crew voted in favour of industrial action which could include strike action - 91% of IMPACT workers backed the move.
Staff were balloted over a roster dispute, as well as the closure of the cabin crew base at Shannon Airport, which will see a loss of 87 jobs.
The decision is the result of a labour dispute over staffing arrangements for new Aer Lingus transatlantic services that are set to begin in 2014 and will be using a smaller Boeing 757 aircraft.
Aer Lingus is leasing Boeing aircraft from Air Contractors and intended to use its own cabin crew on the aircraft.
