The solicitor for the family of the Dhara Kivlehan says any inquest into her death in the North would be hollow as it may not have the co-operation of the doctors involved.

Kivlehan (28), who was originally from India, died at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast of multi-organ failure a week after the birth of her first child in Sligo General Hospital in September 2010.

Yesterday at the High Court, the Health Service Executive (HSE) agreed a settlement of €790,000 with her family and apologised 'unreservedly' for 'shortcomings' in relation to her treatment in Sligo.

The Court heard she did not receive the appropriate specialist medical treatment at Sligo General Hospital. Dhara was then airlifted to Belfast where she died a number of days later.

The Kivlehan family are now anxiously awaiting to hear from the Attorney General if an inquest into her death will be held in Sligo or Belfast.

Senior Partner Damian Tansey spoke to Breakfast here on Newstalk.
