A man (28) remains in a serious condition in hospital this morning after he was shot in the head in an attack in Dublin yesterday.

Three women were also wounded when a gunman opened fire on a group of people outside a pub at Hanlons Corner on the North side of the city at around 2.30am. The women were shot in their legs, but their injuries are described as non life threatening.

The gunman opened fire on a group of people outside the well-known Hanlon's Corner from a car.

Gardaí have described the incident as 'reckless' and 'indiscriminate'.

Michael O'Toole, the crime correspondent with the Irish Daily Star gave Newstalk's Breakfast the latest:

Local Councillor Mary Fitzpatrick says the attack has sent a ripple of fear through the community:

It's understood the male victim, who was known to gardaí, was the target of the attack. He had been attending a 21st birthday party at the pub.

Gardaí at the Bridewell are leading the investigation and are appealing for witnesses to contact them in confidence.
