Health Minister James Reilly is due to attend a hearing of the Oireachtas Health Committee this evening.
He will be there to hear the Director General of the HSE, Tony O'Brien, discuss the organisation's service plan for this year.
It is hoped the plan will cut spending by almost a billion euro in a plan which will also see 75,000 medical cards withdrawn.
