Comedian Colm O'Regan is spending his first St Patrick's Day outside the country. From Kansas City in Missouri, Colm offered Newstalk Breakfast some predictions for next Tuesday's Irish news reports.

He predicts that an excited tourist will be interviewed during their first visit to Ireland - however the audience will be hoping said tourist will manage to escape Dublin city centre before "it all kicks off".

He also expects some topical pageantry - "I predict someone somewhere will be wearing a Phil Hogan mask, while someone else will be dressed as a giant water meter."

The weather will of course play a role: "At least one parade will have a scattered heavy shower, and the locals will be said to not be letting the weather dampen their spirit."

Final thoughts from Colm? "Yes parades can be cheesy and shamrocky doo-dads won't win any awards for lean Scandinavian design. But so what? For one day a year it's OK to wear a bit of eejitry with pride."
