A couple found dead at a Co Limerick farmhouse yesterday may have died by poisoning.

The badly decomposed remains were found in an upstairs bedroom at the house near Askeaton, after a tip-off from burglars who had been ransacking the property.

The remains are believed to be those of Julia Holmes (65) and Thomas Ruttle (56).

Ms Holmes is wanted on fraud charges by gardaí, the PSNI and the FBI.

It is also believed notes were found in the house, with instructions on what to do with the remains.

Post mortem examinations last night proved inconclusive.

But reporter David Raleigh told Newstalk Lunchtime that gardaí have now discounted that the pair died violently.
