Gardai are awaiting the results of a post mortem following the "suspicious" death of a young mother at a hotel in south Dublin. The body of Sonia Blount was found by cleaning staff at the Plaza Hotel in Tallaght during their daily rounds yesterday afternoon.
There were distressing scenes outside the hotel yesterday when Ms. Blount's mother arrived and began to realise that her daughter was dead.
Sonia's body was found by housekeeping at around 3:30pm in the afternoon. A full post mortem was due to get underway today but gardai say some marks on her neck would suggest she may have been strangled.
Her car was taken from the grounds of the hotel and is being examined for clues.
Investigating officers are also going through CCTV footage and hotel records to try and get an idea of Sonia's final movements.
It is understood she checked into the hotel alone the night before and gardai are trying to establish if she arranged to meet somebody there.
Last night, a man presented himself for questioning and he is still being held at Tallaght garda station.
For now, gardai say they are treating her death as "highly suspicious" and are awaiting the post mortem results before deciding how to progress.
Conor Feehan, chief reporter with The Herald, told Newstalk Breakfast earlier that gardai are piecing together her last movements.
