Some Croke Park residents are planning a local protest on Sunday over the cancellation of two Garth Brooks concerts.

They will gather at the junction of Clonliffe and Ballybough Roads to order Dublin City Council to reverse its decision.

They say the whole area is not being represented by what they call a "handful" of residents - almost 400 - who lodged complaints with the Council.

Sandra Reid is organiser of Sunday's protest.

Some residents are calling on the Council to reverse their decision to only licence three gigs. But campaigners who lobbied the Council to cancel the concerts say it is too late.

Colm Stevens is Chair of 'Stop the Croke Park Madness'.

While some other residents say they now support a five night run - only if stadium officials rule that no act can play for more than three nights in future.

Ciaran Gannon is a North-Dublin Councillor who supports the new petition.

Meanwhile the new leader of the Labour Party Joan Burton earlier said a sensible solution for all concerned needs to be found.

The American country singer is threatening to pull the plug on all five concerts planned for later this month after a licence was only granted for three of the performances.

Garth Brooks was accused of "trying to threaten Ireland" after he issued an ultimatum in response to the decision to block two of the concerts.

Brooks says it would be imposssible to choose which shows to do, comparing the situation to being forced to choose between his children.

Green Party Councillor Ciarán Cuffe says tickets for the concerts should not have gone on sale before a licence was secured.

He told Newstalk Breakfast earlier that Garth Brooks' ultimatum is unfair.
