Two people remain in a serious condition after an Irishman went on a violent rampage in Western Germany.
The man, who was aged in his twenties and armed with a knife, was killed as he tried to cross a busy motorway.
The man has been named the Irishman alleged to have been involved in Monday's attacks as Enda McLoughlin (27), who was from Carndonagh in Co. Donegal.
Alan Hall, the Daily Mail's correspondent in Germany, told Newstalk's Breakfast police there are saying the suspect was 'completely unhinged':
Police in the German city of Aachen say the attacker stabbed a taxi driver and then fled the scene before attempting to rob another man who he then stabbed.
It is claimed he then got into another another cab and asked to be taken to Cologne.
However, during that journey the driver was alerted to the danger over his radio and he stopped the car.
Shortly afterwards the suspect attacked a truck driver in the car park of a service station, seriously wounding him.
The attacker again fled the scene, but was hit by a car while attempting to cross the busy motorway, and died at the scene.
Cathal McMahon on the Irish Mirror gave Newstalk's Breakfast some of the background he has dug up on Enda McLoughlin from the Irish side:
A post mortem is set to be carried out on Enda McLoughlin's body at a hospital in Cologne, Germany.
