A leading expert on police accountability says the Garda Representative Association has damaged trust in the force for promoting a YES vote in the upcoming same sex marriage referendum.
The GRA used an editorial in its Garda Review magazine to urge its 10-thousand members to support the referendum.
It's the first time the body has recommended how its members should vote in any referendum or vote.

Baroness Nuala O'Loan, who served as the first Police Ombudsman in Northern Ireland, says she voted against marriage equality in Britain and would vote NO here.
