Noel Fitzpatrick aka the Supervet ,has changed the way we look at treating injured animals.
Hailing from Ballyfin in Co Laois, Noel now has a state of the art practice in Surrey, England. He is one of the most cutting edge in the UK and people come from all over Europe to have their pets treated by him.
It’s here that he pushes the boundaries of veterinary medicine, creating bionic limbs and performing procedures never tried before on animals or humans.
Noel says: “I get everything, from routine fractures to a paralysed dog, from routine arthritis to complete rebuilding of joints, from removal of a lump to full-blown cancer, where I replace part of the skeleton.”
The veterinarian admits that even though he grew up on a farm, he is a "gibbering wreck of tears, angst, emotions, love."
When Shane Coleman questioned whether caring about pets in this way is a first-world issue, Noel replied: "I look after my little bit of the universe.
"I genuinely want to help animals in other environments, other than our privileged environment and humans in other environments who depend on those animals."
