Resarch being published today claims the Irish legal system is failing women and children who are the victims of domestic violence.
That's according to SAFE Ireland, whose work is being launched today by the Justice Minister.
It focuses on the experiences of 13 women and finds that often they are not taken seriously by the legal system, they felt silenced in court, and that some allegations weren't fully investigated.
The report makes a total of 34 recommendations, but CEO of SAFE Sharon O'Halloran says there are four basic changes that need to happen right away.
She spoke to Newstalk Breakfast this morning about the main findings from the report. She said that domestic violence services around the country deal with in excess of 8,000 women every year.
