Greece slips from the front pages today, with Brian Cowen’s appearance at the Banking Inquiry the headline story in The Irish Times, with the headline reading: “Cowen admits miscalculation on bailout”.

The Irish Independent leads with “Kenny hit by revolt over disgusting pension hike”.

The Irish Examiner leads with the news of an Amnesty International poll that found 80 per cent of Irish people want wider access to abortion.

Ivan spoke about the front page of The Herald, which covers the positive impact of the video by Emma Murphy, who has alleged domestic abuse by her partner. The video has been seen by millions worldwide.

Chris read at length from the victim impact statement of Matthew Sheridan – an NUIG law student who suffered extensive, horrific buns when Brian Keane, a law student from Tipperary, set fire to his fancy dress costume – which was constructed from cotton wool and flammable glue.

The pair discussed the news that a row is brewing over plans to hold a ‘sexual freedom’ festival in one of Ireland’s oldest castles – Narrow Water Castle in Co Down.

“I’ve booked my ticket,” Ivan told Chris. “It’s a kind of health and pleasure of the mind and body.”
