John Meagher, music critic with the Irish Independent joined Ivan and Chris to discuss this week's music news and reviews.
There are two great shows at the O2, Dublin this weekend. On Saturday, Depeche Mode bring their compelling brand of electro-rock to the capital, while on Sunday, The National take a step up to the big time with their latest album, Trouble Will Find Me.
John then talks about the apparent decline in the stature and fortunes of pop sensation Justin Bieber. The pressures of the industry on such young shoulders appear to be weighing heavily and the manner in which he hit headlines recently has troubled John.
Album of the week this week is The Beatles' Live at the BBC, Volume 2. Nineteen years after the first Beatles at the Beeb album was released comes this sequel which once more demonstrates the marvelous live prowess of the Fab Four between 1962 and 1965.
John also tipped two good Irish albums out this week: The First Wave from electro-pop act Somadrone and Plastic Ekphrastic from Mineral. The latter is a French-Irish group fronted by Craig Walker, who first came to the attention in the late 1980s as the frontman of the short-lived, but much missed, Power of Dreams.
