Two people have been arrested in relation to the murder of former Provisional IRA member Kevin McGuigan.

The 53-year-old was a suspect in the murder of Gerard "Jock" Davison in May.

Mr McGuigan was shot dead at his home on Wednesday night. He suffered a number of gunshot wounds.

Two masked gunmen shot him outside his home at Comber Court in the Short Strand area.

He was treated at the Royal Victoria Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Police have arrested a 44-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman as part of the investigation.
