A new frontier? Greek island sees increase in refugees arriving

A Greek island is becoming the new frontier for migrants trying to enter Europe.

The island of Lesbos is seeing an increase in the number of people arriving looking for a better life in Europe.

The majority migrants on the island of Lesbos are from Syria or Afghanistan.

 

The people are brought to the Turkish border, and are then smuggled to the Greek island of Lesbos.

About 1,000 refugees are arriving on the island - which itself has a population of just 90,000.

Newstalk.com's Shona Murray is there and sent this report to Breakfast.
